Chiropractic Journal of Australia : CJA December 2013
158 Chiropractic Journal of Australia Volume 43 Number 4 December 2013 Glen Maginnes, The Paediatric CPD Program consisting of 6 modules, which vary in price from $195 to $395. The entire program can also be purchased (as a package) for $995 which attracts 85 CPD points. New technology is revolutionising education. It is able to cover in depth so much more than standard lecture processes. This 'book review' is really a digital program review in an e-book/textbook format that has revolutionised the topic of chiropractic paediatrics. A new wonder opened up to me at the AGM in Sydney in October. I was not aware of the production or the particular technology. Following his Masters in Paediatrics over 15 years ago, Dr Glen Maginness has produced a most professional paediatric course which provides a wealth of information and CPD points from the comfort and convenience of your computer or iPad. The well-referenced program covers all areas of chiropractic paediatric practice and provides access to print the text and to download and print patient handouts, examination forms, questionnaires, consent forms and so E-Book/Textbook Review: much more. In addition, it provides a detailed management plan for a range of the more common conditions presenting in chiropractic practices. Perhaps the most unique feature is one of the highlights. Throughout the pages, there are numerous embedded videos that one just has to click to have a practical demonstration of a particular procedure, be that an adjusting technique, a specifc paediatric refex, or an examination procedure. I found it so much more informative to see these items demonstrated in full rather than still photos from a text book, even though textbook are essential adjuncts too. For any practitioner of any health profession, this program provides an essential element in supplementing and refreshing one’s paediatric skills, knowledge, expertise, confdence and authority in this important area of practice. Given the current controversy on this topic, it adds an essential insurance to one's competency. Peter Rome DC
